On this double page spread I like the way they have contected the two sides by the red strips. I think it creates a certain flow to the contents oage and directs the readers eyes. On my double page spread I think I will use the technique to guide my readers around my double page spread.

Research of existing music magazine double page spread

I really like this double page spread design because it is different to many other magazines. I think the way the image dominates the page so that it is main focual point. The handwriting font used really contrasts with the bond font, I like the idea of using this on my magazine because it has a good balance and reflects a modern magazine aimed at older teens girls (just like my target audience).

WE LOVE POP-We Love Pop is a monthly music magazine, concentrating on the Pop genre. It is focused towards girls aged 11-15

The double page spread from ''we love pop'' opens with an pun  ''Merry Christmurs!''  which is the main headline; the pun is in a ribbon effect...like a present to the audience. The fact that ''Murs'' is in a different font colour shows that Olly Murs is the main focus of this article. The main image of Olly Murs (on the right page)  which is a median close up can be taken out as a poster for the young teenage girls/ fans to stick on there wall. As well as the main image we have a secondary image of Olly Murs wearing a Christmas hat which goes with the Christmas theme of this article. Also reinforced with the background of the snowflakes. The paragraph starts with a drop capital highlighted with yellow to grab the attention of readers. Also, due to it being highlighted it could show that it is more important then the rest/ the main points in the text. With the secondary image we have a speech bubble which uses direct adress to the audience with the wourd ''you''.  This makes the artical more interactive and personal to the reader. For my magazine, I really like the idea of highlighting or changing the colour of text therefore important information can stand out. The way in which the text is set up within the three collums makes it easier for the readers to read and follow.  This double page spread has decided for the questions in red font and the answers in black; this goes with the christmas theme and kind of helps the idea of the theme to come across to the reader. As well as create a smooth flow for the audience. I am influenced by this idea.
