29 females and 23 males answered my questionaire. With influnece of these results I am aiming my music magazine at females because I feel, me being one myself, I have a underatnding of what they look in magazine and what designs/layouts/colours appeal to them.
4 fifteens year olds, 27 sixteen year olds, 18 seventeen year olds and 3 eighteen year olds answered my questionaire. I decided this will be my target age because I am in this age group and can relate. Also, it makes it much easier for traget audience response because I am in contact with this age range nearly everyday.
By the pie chart you can cleary see that pop music is the most popular, followed by hip hop and rap. The least popular genre of music is classical with 0 people saying they they liked it.
Even though 24 out of 52 people read a music magazine one a month, 20 people said they hardly never. Therefore, I want to make my music magazine enjoyable and exciting to read therefore it more people involved and reading music magazines more often.
The most popular music magazines for 15 to 18 year olds are Entertainment Weekly, Billboard and NME. To further my research I will look more deeply into these magazines to see what the context and design of them are.
I handed out 60 questionaires to people in the age range of 14 to 18. I got 52 replys.
These results are fairly equal. 12 people said they preferred reading factual information, 17 said Gossip and 18 interviews. Advice was less popular at only 5 people prefering to read it. On my double page spread I will use the techique of interviewing to include factual information about the artist as well as gossip.
29 people would pay between £1.00-£2.60 for a magazine, as this is the most popular price I will price my music magazine at £2.00.

These results are pretty equal but I will advertise a competetition in my magazine as a way to tempt readers to buy the magazine. If the competition is good enough and suitable to the target audience (eg ticket to a concert) this method will work.

Most find out about gigs by the internet. In my music magazine, the double page spread will be about an artist promoting their tour. Therfore, people can find out about gigs in magazines not just the internet.

I don't think girls my age and below listen to CD's because we listen to music via music apps etc but iphone cases and makeup would be good. Also maybe samples of hair products.
